You’ve probably noticed that ranking on Google for generic word terms or keywords can be nearly impossible. Customizing your search engine optimization campaign to target specific niches for your business or industry can make all the difference.

Niche targeting helps in eliminating competition, bringing relevant visitors to your website, improve your conversion ratio, and giving you a better return on your investment.

Let’s Create a Niche

Instead of trying to rank for “cookies,” try “decorative cookies” or “artisan cookies.” Research your product or business and find what alternative details you can find.

If your business offers a service such as mortgage lending, try breaking it down into a specific niche. For example: “residential mortgage loans” or “home equity mortgage loans.”

Niche + Geo Targeting (Neighborhoods)

Combining niche terms with geographically targeted neighborhoods can also have a very positive impact on your search engine ranking results.

Let’s say you have local motorcycle shop. You would combine your niche and geographical location like this: “sport bikes Phoenix Arizona” or “custom choppers Phoenix Arizona.” You can see how this will bring in qualified leads by targeting that specific demographic.

Niche + Individual Markets

Targeting individual markets with your niche phrase also produces positive ranking results in search engines. If you are a business offering a service such as web design, you could target a specific market in this fashion: “real estate web design” or “small business web design.”

Wrap-up

Niche creation, niche plus geo targeting, or niche plus individual markets create relevant, low-competition, long-tail keywords for your website that perform very well in search engines. Of course, another important factor you have to take into consideration when creating your niche, geo target, or individual markets is their popularity in the search engines. To determine this, use free keyword tools like Google AdWords: Keyword Tool or Wordtracker.

Excited and overwhelmed, you are looking to launch a new product, start a business, or revamp your existing online company image. You want your website to rank high in Google, Yahoo, or Bing and not quite sure how to go about it. Did you know that hiring a medium-sized “one-stop shop” or a full-blown marketing company is a bad idea? Why would it matter, you ask? The answer is simple: they specialize in doing a little of everything and not enough in what you need.

What Goes on in a One-Stop Shop

Having worked for several marketing companies that offer web design in Phoenix, Arizona, I’ve come to know quite a bit of what goes on in a “one-stop shop.” Most shops are good at designing print or putting a spin on your marketing campaign, which I think is fine. But if you’re looking to have a website that will outperform your competition on and off the search engines, you need to go with a web design company that strictly specializes in web design and marketing.

Do You Go to Jack in the Box to Buy a Taco?

Most first-time businesses invest too little in their online presence. Just the other day, I received a call from a guy that purchased a template on the internet and wanted his copy dumped into it. I was wondering, “What exactly does he want achieve here? There is absolutely no added value to his business in doing something like this.”

In my opinion, a one-stop shop’s product is only a small notch above website templates. Instead of purchasing one for you off the net, they’ll design a template, then dump your brochure copy into it and, voila!, you now have a website. Just as you wouldn’t go to Jack in the Box for a delicious taco, don’t hire a “do-it-all” company for your professional website.

Truth is, if you’re looking to launch a product online, gain exposure, and be competitive, you’ll need a team that will carefully research your product or service to best target your audience. At NugenWeb, we are just that – a team of talented professionals ready to take on the most challenging aspects of your website needs. Say no to “one-stop shops” and let the pros handle all your online marketing needs.
